Safety training for the (petro)chemical industry
Are you working in the (petro)chemical or heavy industry? And are you looking for safety training? Then you've come to the right place! In order to work safely in the (petro)chemical or heavy industry, it is very important that you have up-to-date safety knowledge so that you can prevent, recognize or resolve hazards. DELTA Safety Training offers a large number of safety and industrial training courses relevant to this sector.
At DELTA Safety Training, you can go for training courses with DELTA certification or at an additional cost with SSVV Training Guide (SOG) examination. SSVV (Stichting Samenwerken Voor Veiligheid) has established a quality mark for training courses and exams for the (petro)chemical industry. If you do not work in this sector, a DELTA certificate will suffice. This is because the content of the course and the exam are the same.
If you do not explicitly request an SOG exam, you will conclude your safety training with a DELTA exam. If you then successfully complete your exam, you will receive a DELTA certificate. In most cases, this is sufficient to have and maintain access to the work in question. Before signing up for safety training, check to see if your employer or client explicitly asks for SOG certification. Not sure if you need SOG certification? Contact us to see if an SOG certification is applicable to you.

Can I also drive a reach truck with a forklift certificate?
No, for the reach truck you need to obtain a reach truck certificate. Many skills are the same, but with a reach truck the trainee must take into account other risks and dangers compared to the forklift truck. -
How long does a training course last?
Basic training lasts 1 day (8 hours) and refresher training lasts 2 days (16 hours). The duration mentioned includes breaks. -
Is a forklift exam difficult?
No, the forklift truck exam is not difficult. However, you do need to prepare well. For example by taking a one-day or two-day forklift course, depending on your previous knowledge and experience. -
What is the difference between a forklift truck and a reach truck?
There are a number of differences between a forklift truck and a reach truck. In a forklift truck, you sit straight behind the forks; in a reach truck, you sit in a quarter turn. A reach truck has one rear wheel, while a forklift truck can also have two rear wheels. Reach trucks may only drive indoors, whereas a forklift truck with pneumatic tyres may also drive outdoors. Finally, a forklift truck has a counterweight, while a reach truck, due to a different design, does not. -
How long is the certificate valid after the training?
The forklift certificate is valid for 5 years (both the SOG and the DELTA forklift certificate). The expiry date is also stated on the certificate that you will receive from us once you have passed. -
How does the application procedure for this training work?
You can register via email or our booking form, stating your initials and surname and your date of birth. If you want to take the SOG exam, please state your VCA diploma number as well. We also need your invoice information, which you can include in your email or in the booking form. Is a forklift certificate mandatory?
Strictly speaking, a forklift certificate is not compulsory. That is, nowhere in the law it is literally stated that you have to have a forklift certificate to drive a forklift. However, the Dutch Working Conditions Act states (roughly translated) that the driver has to be able to demonstrate his expertise to operate or drive such a vehicle. Since it is most practical to demonstrate that expertise by means of a valid forklift certificate, most employers choose to have their employees follow a forklift course periodically.
