In industry, many accidents occur with hand-held abrasive wheels. This often happens in combination with cutting-off wheels or abrasive wheels. This training discusses the risks and safe working methods when using various types of abrasive wheels, including portable machines, hand-held machines and machines in a fixed position.
This training is intended for anyone who performs activities involving the use of various types of abrasive wheels and the associated machines.
The course covers different types of abrasive wheels, pre-use inspection of wheels and tools, hazards, proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper selection of wheels.

Abrasive wheels training content
This training consists of a theoretical and a practical part where the following topics are discussed:
Theory
- Law and regulations
- What is an abrasive wheel?
- What kind of equipment do you use them with
- Dangers and risks from the use of abrasive wheels and precautions to be taken
- Before you go to work
- Marking of abrasive wheels discs with their type, dimensions and maximum working speed
- How discs should be stored and transported
- How discs are inspected and tested for damage
- How to mount disks correctly
- The proper way to maintain a disc (removing blunted abrasive or other material from the cutting surface and/or removing material to correct uneven wear on the wheel)
- Correct adjustment of the work support on pedestal or bench sanders
- Use of appropriate personal protective equipment, e.g. eye protection
Practice
- Each candidate must select the most appropriate device/disk for the task to be performed
- Each candidate must correctly mount their chosen disc on the wheel
- Each candidate must perform an inspection for both the disc and the tool.
- Each candidate must use the abrasive wheels using the safe system of work given by the instructor

Basic and refresher training in abrasive wheels
This training is meant for people without experience as well as for people with experience who want to refresh their knowledge and/or have a valid diploma that will expire soon.

Is a medical examination necessary for me to do my job?
No. It is not necessary to undergo a medical examination before starting work.

What is included in the price of the abrasive wheels training?
- Digital certificate as proof of completion. A paper certificate will be not sent by default. However, if desired, you can receive a paper certificate at an additional cost of €25 excluding VAT. Read our blog article for more information.

Why do I need to attend a training course in abrasive wheels?
Many accidents happen with hand-held grinding machines. Therefore, for your own safety and the safety of your colleagues, it is important that you know how to use a grinder safely. Take part in the training and you will then be able to use a grinder correctly. -
