Code 95
Code 95 is a designation on the driving license of professional drivers in Europe, indicating that the driver meets the European directives for professional competence in goods or passenger transport. Code 95 is mandatory for all professional truck and bus drivers in the European Union and some other European countries, and is designed to increase road safety and ensure professionalism in the transport sector.
Drivers must complete 35 hours of continuing education every five years to maintain their Code 95 status. Without this refresher training, they lose their right to drive professionally.
At least 7 hours of continuing education must consist of a practical course, such as driving optimization or load securing. The remaining hours can be completed with theoretical courses, such as first aid, forklift and VCA. If you do not yet have a Code 95 designation on your driver's license, it is necessary to first obtain the basic qualification for Code 95. Signing up for the basic Code 95 qualification can be done through a recognized training provider, such as a driving school certified to offer Code 95 training or at the Centraal Bureau Rijvaardigheidsbewijzen (CBR).
