What is an SOG theoretical exam?

SOG means SSVV Training Guide. The abbreviation SSVV, in turn, means Stichting Samenwerken Voor Veiligheid. An SOG theoretical exam is taken via computer and is therefore also called a CBT (Computer Based Testing) exam. The SOG theoretical exam is a mandatory exam for you if you work in the (petro)chemical and process industry and your employer or your employer's client requires an SOG certificate. Before you can make an SOG theory or practical exam, you must possess a VCA (Safety, Health and Environment Checklist Contractors) certificate. The SOG exam was developed by the Stichting Samenwerken voor Veiligheid and covers specific safety aspects relevant to these industries.

The SOG theory exam consists of multiple-choice questions related to occupational health and safety, such as working safely with hazardous materials, using personal protective equipment, recognizing hazardous situations and dealing with emergencies. The exam is administered by training centers recognized by the SSVV, including DELTA Safety Training.

Passing the SOG theoretical exam is an important part of working in the (petro)chemical and process industries in a safe and responsible way.
