Medical examinations

There are several occupations in which it is important to be medically examined in order to work safely. This is because some medical conditions can limit or prevent the ability to perform certain tasks, which can put you in dangerous situations as an employee. Therefore, it is very important that you do not have any medical conditions that could jeopardize the safety of yourself or others.

Where will I be inspected?

If you book a medical examination with us, you will be examined by licensed and BIG-registered medical examiners. You can be medically examined at our location in a fully medically equipped room where all necessary facilities will be available.

When will I be medically examined?

You can schedule your medical examination at very flexible examination times. For example, it is possible to have your examination prior to safety training, during the break of a training session, after a training session, or you can schedule the examination separately.

What is the cost of medical examinations?

In the overview below you can see the prices per inspection. The prices shown, are the prices per person excluding VAT.

  • Breathalyzers (with resting ECG)

    • Up to age 39 - valid for 4 years - EUR 250
    • 40 to 49 years of age - valid for 2 years EUR 250
    • 50 years and older - valid for 1 year - EUR 250
  • Compressed air inspections (with stress test) - G26

    • Up to 40 years of age - valid for 4 years - EUR 250
    • 41 to 49 years of age - valid for 2 years - EUR 250
    • 50 years and older - valid for 1 year - EUR 250
  • Working at Height Examinations - G41 (GWO)

    • Up to 24 years old - valid for 3 years - no exercise test - EUR 210
    • 25 to 39 years of age - valid for 2 years - no exercise test - EUR 210
    • 40 to 49 years old - valid for 2 years - incl. exercise test - EUR 250
    • 50 years and older - valid for 1 year - incl. exercise test - EUR 250

    Exercise test involves a Chester Step Test, but can be replaced with an Astrand Cycle Test if necessary.

  • Offshore inspections

    • NOGEPA Offshore inspection including bi-deltoid (shoulder measurement) - valid for 2 years - EUR 205
    • NOGEPA Offshore inspection including bi-deltoid (shoulder measurement) for Emergency Response Team (ERT) - valid for 2 years - EUR 250
    • Bi-deltoid (shoulder measurement) - EUR 65
  • Shipping inspections

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

  • When do I book a compressed air/breathing air examination?

    If you are going to follow SOG training (this applies to the training course Independent Respiratory Protection Basic and Independent Respiratory Protection Review), it is compulsory to have either a compressed air examination or a respiratory air examination before the training. It is also compulsory to have been inspected before you carry out your final work.
  • Is it compulsory to have a safety passport (PSL)?

    No, it is not compulsory to have a safety passport (PSL) before you can participate in a training course. It is also not compulsory to have a PSL in order to carry out your work.
  • When should I take a Chester Step Test?

    A Chester Step Test is not mandatory before participating in the training courses. If you are going to follow one or more of the training courses below, it is mandatory that you have had a Chester Step Test before your final work.   • When do I need a NOGEPA Offshore inspection?

    If you are going to participate in a NOGEPA training course, it is mandatory to have a NOGEPA Offshore rating. When participating in OPITO training, it is not mandatory to have an Offshore rating before attending an OPITO training course. It is mandatory to have an offshore examination before starting to work offshore. If you are attending one of the following courses, you are required to have an offshore medical before starting to work offshore: OPITO BOSIET, NOGEPA 0.5A, OPITO FOET, NOGEPA 0.5B, OPITO HUET.
  • When do I need to undergo a Working at Height Inspection - G41 (GWO)?

    If you are going to follow one or more of the following courses, it is mandatory to have had a G41 examination before your final work: GWO Basic Safety Training Onshore Basic, GWO Basic Safety Training Offshore Basic, GWO Basic Safety Training Onshore Refresher, GWO Basic Safety Training Offshore Refresher, GWO Working at Heights Basic, GWO Working at Heights Refresher, GWO First Aid Basic, GWO First Aid Refresher, GWO Sea Survival Basic, GWO Sea Survival Refresher, GWO Fire Awareness Basic, GWO Fire Awareness Refresher, GWO Manual Handling Basic, GWO Manual Handling Refresher, GWO Advanced Rescue Training Basic.
  • How can I check the validity or authenticity of a medical examination certificate?

    The certificate is issued by the doctor immediately after the examination. Please contact us to explore whether we can still help you with a validity or authenticity issue.
  • Will I receive a digital certificate of my medical examination?

    No, you will only receive a paper certificate immediately after your examination by the doctor.
