applicationsTorque & Bolttensioning
Torque and bolting are both methods of tightening bolts or nuts to apply a certain force to a joint.
Torque, also known as moment or moment of force, is the force applied to an object to make it rotate around a shaft or pivot point. When tightening a bolt or nut, torque is used to tighten the bolt or nut and secure the joint. Torque can be affected by factors such as the size of the bolt or nut, the length of the wrench or ratchet used to tighten the bolt or nut, and the friction between the bolt or nut and the material on which it is being tightened.
Tensioning is a method of tightening a bolt or nut by deliberately stretching the bolt or nut until the proper tension is achieved. This is done using special equipment, such as hydraulic tensioners, that apply even and controlled pressure to the bolt or nut to stretch it to the desired length. By stretching the bolt or nut in this way, the proper tension is achieved, thus securing the joint safely and reliably.
Choosing the right method for tightening bolts or nuts depends on several factors, such as the size of the joint, the forces applied to it, and the environment in which it is located. It is important to use the correct method to ensure that the joint is and remains safe and reliable.
The Torque & Bolt Tensioning course is for you if you work in industry and are in charge of opening and closing bolts and nuts. In this two-day course (consecutive days), you will learn how to apply controlled bolt tension using torque and tensioning tools to achieve proper gasket pressure on flange connections.
