This GWO Blended Learning refresher training is for you if you work in or around wind turbines, perform physical labor in the process, and hold a GWO Manual Handling certificate that needs to be renewed. Blended Learning means that digital learning is combined with practical training. As a trainee you first learn the theoretical knowledge by means of e-learning. The duration mentioned in the left menu of this training page represents the number of practical training hours at our location. In addition to this duration, there are also the number of training hours that you will spend on the theory part at home. After that you follow the practical part at our location. This saves you time, money and allows you to prepare more efficiently for the practical training!

  • The B-VCA exam

    To obtain your SCC certificate, you must pass your SCC exam with a positive result. The Basic Safety SCC exam is available at several times and locations throughout the country. The basic safety SCC exam, which is taken by computer, takes a maximum of 60 minutes and is administered by a recognized examination agency. Your VCA certificate is therefore issued by a VCA-certified body.
    For candidates with language and/or reading difficulties there is the possibility of a reading exam.

    Please note that an SCC reading exam is not the same as an SCC oral exam. With an SCC reading exam, students are given headphones and the entire exam is read aloud. An SCC reading exam is possible on request. It is no longer possible to request an SCC reading exam during the on-site SCC exam, so if you are interested in this, you have to request it prior to the SCC exam.

To pass this exam you need to answer at least 49 questions correctly. You will have passed if you have obtained at least 64.5% of the total number of points to be obtained (7000). In total, you have a maximum of 75 minutes to complete the exam. It is a computer-based exam that is administered by a recognised examination agency.

    The training consists of a theoretical and a practical part. The following topics are covered:

    • Introduction to maritime health care
    • Infectious Diseases
    • (physical) examination on the basis of a questionnaire
    • Transport of wounded
    • Evacuation by helicopter
    • Wound care and suturing
    • Injury to the body
    • Checking vital body functions
    • Medical equipment on board
    • Administration of medical care and contact with RMD (Radio Medical Service)

    With a positive result the participant will receive a STCW Medical First Aid certificate. The certificate meets the STCW'78 guidelines including 2010 Manila amendments.

  • Basic and refresher training STCW Medical First Aid

    This training is meant for people without experience as well as for people with experience who want to refresh their knowledge and/or have a valid diploma that will expire soon.

  • In which language is the STCW Medical First Aid training given?

    On request or if only Dutch-speaking students participate, instruction can be provided in Dutch.

The Medical Care course is mandatory if the STCW Medical First Aid course is not sufficient due to the areas where you will be located.

The STCW Medical First Aid course is mandatory for employees who are responsible for providing first aid on board within the boundaries of the Dutch territorial sea or a territorial sea adjacent to the zone of the Dutch territorial sea.

When you are outside the above zones you must also be in possession of a valid STCW Medical Care certificate.

During this STCW Medical Care course participants learn and practice activities, procedures and skills related to safety on the water and safety on board.

    During this STCW Basic Safety refresher course participants learn activities, procedures and skills that contribute to safety on the water and on board.     During the FAFS course, subjects such as life-saving action, fire fighting and evacuation are dealt with:

    Part 1: Communications, Firefighting and Evacuations

    • Tasks of the company emergency worker

    On the practical day you will get to work practicing the actions you learned during the e-learning, here your practical skills will also be tested.

    Do you hold a valid Oranje Kruis first aid certificate with a CPR endorsement?
    If so, you may be eligible for an exemption from the Life-Saving Procedures (LRH) module. You can indicate this in the comments field during the booking process. To speed up the process, we also kindly ask you to note your Oranje Kruis number.
