The maritime medical examination is a mandatory medical examination for crew members on seagoing vessels and takes approximately 30 minutes. The examination checks your health and suitability to work safely on board and is mandatory every two years. Afterwards, you will receive a 'medical certificate for seafarers', valid for two years. The terms 'shipping', 'seafaring' and 'inland shipping' are used, so in this case we are talking about one and the same examination.
For ships with a helideck, an additional "Fit for CA-EBS" certificate may be required (approx. 10 minutes).
