During this practical module GWO (Global Wind Organisation) Working at Height you learn how to use the personal protective equipment (PPE) for working at height correctly. We also teach you how to evacuate yourself and/or an injured colleague from height in a safe and responsible way. We work with ready-made rescue systems that require minimal technical knowledge of the user.
The training GWO Working at Heights is one of the five modules of the GWO Basic Safety Training developed by the Global Wind Organisation (GWO) for people working in the wind industry.
The full package teaches participants everything they need to know to work safely in the wind industry and includes the modules First Aid, Manual Handling, Fire Awareness, Sea Survival and Working at Heights.

Content GWO Working at Heights - Basic
- Personal safety
- Relevant legal and legislative knowledge, personal protective equipment, forces, etc.
- Basic fall protection: putting on a safety belt, rules and practical applications of fall protection, workplace restraint and work positioning
- Working with permanent and temporary fall protection systems
- Rescue from fall arrest system (rail or cable) using ready-to-use system
- Emergency escape from the nacelle
- Rescue victim hanging over the edge of the nascelle/transition piece
- Evacuate the victim and hand him over to professional responders
- Treatment of orthostatic shock (hanging trauma)
- Practising using different scenarios

Basic training GWO Working at Heights - Basic
This training course is a basic training course intended for people who have no experience with working at height, or who do not (or no longer) have a valid GWO Working at Height certificate.

In which language is the GWO Working at Heights - Basic taught?
The training is given in English. On request or if only Dutch-speaking students participate, the instruction can be given in Dutch.

What are the entry requirements for the GWO Working at Heights - Basic?
- Valid GWO WINDA ID*
- Good physical condition
- Maximum weight of student 124 kilograms
If you already have a WINDA ID: Please enter it in the comments field in the booking form.
If you do not have a WINDA ID yet: please request one. After filling in the requested data, an activation code, valid for 48 hours, will be sent to you by e-mail. Once you activate it and enter your password, you will receive a confirmation with your WINDA ID. Your WINDA ID will also appear at the top right of the page at that time. This WINDA ID is required for the registration of your certificates. We kindly ask you to send us your WINDA ID (preferably a few days before the training) by e-mail. -

What is included in the price of the GWO Working at Heights - Basic?
- Digital certificate as proof of completion. A paper certificate will be not sent by default. However, if desired, you can receive a paper GWO certificate at an additional cost of €25 excluding VAT. Read our blog article for more information.

At what height do the rules for GWO working at height apply?
The working at height rules are applicable at any height. There is no minimum height requirement. The rules are useful to be able to apply in any work situation where it is necessary to reduce the risk of falling from great heights. -
