The GWO Manual Handling training course is intended for personnel who work in or around wind turbines and perform physical labour.
GWO Manual Handling training is one of the five modules of the GWO Basic Safety Training developed by the Global Wind Organisation for people working in the wind industry.
The full package teaches participants everything they need to know to work safely in the wind industry and consists of the modules:
- First Aid
- Manual Handling
- Fire Safety (Fire Awareness)
- Sea Survival
- Working at Heights

During this practical GWO Manual Handling training you will learn how to lift loads safely and how to prevent injuries. We cover the following topics:- Personal safety
- Theoretical basis for dealing with the risks associated with lifting loads

- Practising using different scenarios

Basic training GWO Manual Handling - Basic
This is a basic training, intended for people who have no professional experience with safe lifting and injury prevention, or who do not (or no longer) have a valid GWO Manual Handling diploma.
Do you have a valid GWO Manual Handling certificate, but will it expire soon? Then book a refresher course. -
In which language is the GWO Manual Handling - Basic taught?
The training is given in English. On request or if only Dutch-speaking students participate, the instruction can be given in Dutch.

What are the entry requirements for the GWO Manual Handling - Basic?
- Valid GWO WINDA ID*
If you already have a WINDA ID: Please enter it in the comments field in the booking form.
If you do not have a WINDA ID yet: please request one. After filling in the requested data, an activation code, valid for 48 hours, will be sent to you by e-mail. Once you activate it and enter your password, you will receive a confirmation with your WINDA ID. Your WINDA ID will also appear at the top right of the page at that time. This WINDA ID is required for the registration of your certificates. We kindly ask you to send us your WINDA ID (preferably a few days before the training) by e-mail. -

What is included in the price of the GWO Manual Handling - Basic?
- Digital certificate as proof of completion. A paper certificate will be not sent by default. However, if desired, you can receive a paper GWO certificate at an additional cost of €25 excluding VAT. Read our blog article for more information.

Are the GWO trainings comparable to realistic situations?
Yes, we train to manually move loads in confined spaces. Wind turbines are also confined spaces and during training we try to simulate this as much as possible. -

The GWO Manual Handling training course has been developed for people working in the wind industry. Do you work in or around a wind turbine and do you perform physical labour? If so, follow this training so that you don't develop any physical complaints caused by your work. -
