The Medical Care course is mandatory if the STCW Medical First Aid course is not sufficient due to the areas where you will be located.
The STCW Medical First Aid course is mandatory for employees who are responsible for providing first aid on board within the boundaries of the Dutch territorial sea or a territorial sea adjacent to the zone of the Dutch territorial sea.
When you are outside the above zones you must also be in possession of a valid STCW Medical Care certificate.
During this STCW Medical Care course participants learn and practice activities, procedures and skills related to safety on the water and safety on board.

Course content STCW Medical Care
The training consists of a theoretical and a practical part. The following topics are covered:- Introduction to maritime health care
- Infectious Diseases
- Transport of wounded
- Inserting an infusion
- Administering an injection
- Wound care and suturing
- Injury to the body
- Checking vital body functions
- Administration of medical care and contact with RMD (Radio Medical Service)

Basic and refresher training STCW Medical Care
This training is meant for people without experience as well as for people with experience who want to refresh their knowledge and/or have a valid diploma that will expire soon.

What is included in the price of the STCW Medical Care course?

What is a sample book?

Are there admission requirements to participate in the STCW Medical Care training?
Yes, there are entry requirements to participate in the STCW Medical Care training. To be able to participate in the STCW Medical Care training you need to be in possession of a valid STCW Basic Safety Training certificate or a ship health care (B/O) certificate. -
What is the difference between the STCW Medical First Aid and STCW Medical Care courses?
There is a lot of overlap in the two courses mentioned. The STCW Medical Care training is compulsory if the STCW Medical First Aid training is not sufficient because of the areas where you will be. If you will be outside the boundaries of the Dutch territorial sea or outside the territorial sea adjacent to the Dutch territorial sea, then you are obliged to ALSO be in possession of a valid STCW Medical Care certificate.
