The STCW Medical First Aid course is mandatory for employees who are responsible for providing first aid on board within the boundaries of the Dutch territorial sea or a territorial sea adjacent to the zone of the Dutch territorial sea.
When you are operating outside the above zones you must also be in possession of a valid STCW Medical Care certificate.
During this STCW Medical Care course participants learn and practice activities, procedures and skills related to safety on the water and safety on board.

Contents STCW Medical First Aid
The training consists of a theoretical and a practical part. The following topics are covered:- Introduction to maritime health care
- Infectious Diseases
- (physical) examination on the basis of a questionnaire
- Transport of wounded
- Evacuation by helicopter
- Wound care and suturing
- Injury to the body
- Checking vital body functions
- Medical equipment on board
- Administration of medical care and contact with RMD (Radio Medical Service)
With a positive result the participant will receive a STCW Medical First Aid certificate. The certificate meets the STCW'78 guidelines including 2010 Manila amendments.

Basic and refresher training STCW Medical First Aid
This training is meant for people without experience as well as for people with experience who want to refresh their knowledge and/or have a valid diploma that will expire soon.

On request or if only Dutch-speaking students participate, instruction can be provided in Dutch.

What is included in the price of the STCW Medical First Aid course?

What is a sample book?
A muster book is a booklet in which all personal and important data about work experience and training are recorded. Every seafarer must have a monster booklet. The muster book is valid for 10 years. -
Will I receive a certificate if I complete the training successfully?
Yes, you will receive a certificate as proof of completion. The STCW Medical First Aid certificate will then be issued to you. -
How long does the STCW Medical First Aid training take?
The training lasts two days in total. -
