During this hands-on module GWO (Global Wind Organisation) First Aid (Blended Learning) you will learn to provide first aid to victims while working in a wind turbine environment. Do you like to learn the theory of the training at your own pace? Then the Blended Learning variant is for you! The Blended Learning variant allows you to learn the theory at your own pace and time, so that you only have to come to our training center for the practical part. This saves you time and money! The duration listed in the left menu of this training page represents the number of practical training hours at our location. In addition to this duration, you will also need to spend a certain number of hours on the theory part at home.
The GWO First Aid Blended Learning course is one of the five modules of the basic safety training course developed by the Global Wind Organization (GWO). This training is for you if you work in the wind industry.
Throughout the GWO Basic Safety Course, you will learn everything you need to work safely in the wind industry. The full package teaches participants everything they need to work safely in the wind industry and consists of the modules:

Contents GWO First Aid - Basic (Blended Learning)
The training consists of theoretical and practical elements.In addition to all the elements of life-saving action, less life-threatening injuries and illnesses that frequently occur in everyday life are also covered. Injury and illness assessment are also part of the training, specifically geared towards the wind turbine environment. On completion of the course, you will be broadly knowledgeable and able to act in virtually all situations. The following topics are covered:
- Rescue Management (assessing the situation, foreseeing the danger, protective equipment, etc.)
- Alert
- Initial assessment of the victim
- Clearing the airway, breathing and resuscitation (CPR)
- Use of AED
- Stabilizing an unconscious victim
- Stopping severe bleeding
- Shock treatment
- Moving in emergencies
- Injury assessment (fractures & dislocations, neck & spine injuries, burns, hypothermia & frostbite, minor injuries, etc.)
- Disease assessment (asthma, heart attack, allergies, stroke, etc.)
- Exercising using different scenarios for the specific environment

This training concerns a basic training. The basic training is suitable for you if you have no experience with first aid at the wind turbine workplace, or if you do not (or no longer) have a valid GWO First Aid diploma.

The training is given in English. On request or if only Dutch-speaking students participate, the instruction can be given in Dutch.

What are the admission requirements for the GWO First Aid - Basic (Blended Learning)?
- Valid GWO WINDA ID*
If you already have a WINDA ID: Please enter it in the comments field in the booking form.
If you do not have a WINDA ID yet: please request one. After filling in the requested data, an activation code, valid for 48 hours, will be sent to you by e-mail. Once you activate it and enter your password, you will receive a confirmation with your WINDA ID. Your WINDA ID will also appear at the top right of the page at that time. This WINDA ID is required for the registration of your certificates. We kindly ask you to send us your WINDA ID (preferably a few days before the training) by e-mail. -

What is included in the price of the GWO First Aid - Basic (Blended Learning)?

- Digital certificate as proof of completion. A paper certificate will be not sent by default. However, if desired, you can receive a paper GWO certificate at an additional cost of €17.50 excluding VAT. Read our blog article for more information. You will receive the same certificate upon completion of the GWO First Aid - Basic (Blended Learning) as if you were taking the classroom version.

What do I learn during the GWO First Aid training?
During this training you will acquire a basic knowledge of anatomy, learn to administer first aid safely and work with first aid equipment at great heights. -
Who attends a GWO First Aid training course?
Do you work in the wind industry? Then the GWO First Aid training is mandatory. This training course has been designed for personnel who work in the wind industry onshore (on land) and/or offshore (at sea) and who, for example, are involved in the construction or maintenance of a wind turbine/wind farm. During this training you learn how to administer first aid in wind turbines. -
Why do I need GWO First Aid training?
If you are working in a wind turbine and medical assistance is suddenly required, it is important to be able to act quickly and appropriately. The actions of a colleague at that moment can be of vital importance as it can take some time for professional medical assistance to arrive at the wind turbine. Recognising situations can therefore save you or a colleague.
