The basic course Emergency Response Officer (FAFS) trains people to be FAFS officers. This course is for persons who have taken on the responsibility of emergency assistance on the work floor. During this course the participants are trained in carrying out the tasks of a company emergency worker. These include evacuation, clearance, aftercare, fire fighting and communication during an incident.

The FAFS course covers life-saving, firefighting and evacuation topics:
Part 1: Communications, Firefighting and Evacuations
- Tasks of the company emergency worker
- Communication tools during an incident
- Firefighting (fire triangle and pentagon, fire stages, small extinguishers)
- Evictions
- Importance of aftercare
Part 2: Life-saving Acts (LRH).
- General rules for administering first aid (five key points)
- Rautek's emergency coup de grâce
- Vital Functions
- CPR according to current guidelines (adults)
- Suffocation and poisoning
- Shock
- External (severe) loss of blood and how to bandage this (bandage theory)
- Local injuries (burns, broken bones, eye damage)
You will acquire the theoretical knowledge required to perform your duties as a FAFS officer through the e-learning. The testing of the knowledge is also done digitally during the e-learning. Positive completion of the tests during the e-learning is a requirement to participate in the practical day.
On the practical day you will get to work practicing the actions you learned during the e-learning, here your practical skills will also be tested.
Are you in possession of a valid Oranje Kruis First Aid diploma with CPR endorsement?
Then you may be eligible for exemption from the Life-Saving Acts (LH) section. You can indicate this during the booking process in the comments field. To speed up the process we also kindly ask you to write down your Orange Cross number. -
Basic Emergency Response Training (FAFS) - Blended Learning
This training is a basic training, which is intended for people who have no knowledge of company emergency response, or do not (or no longer) have a valid FAFS diploma .

What are the entry requirements for the Company Emergency Response (FAFS) - Basic - Blended learning course?
To participate in the practical training, you must have successfully completed the e-learning and the (digital) theory tests during the e-learning.

What do I bring to the Company Emergency Response (FAFS) - Basic - Blended learning training?
- A valid original identification document (passport, identity card or driver's license).
- Proof of e-learning completion.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): work clothes/overalls, safety shoes, safety helmet, safety gloves.

In case of exemption for life-saving operations: the valid first aid pass.

What is included in the price of the Company Emergency Response (FAFS) - Basic - Blended learning training?
- Digital certificate as proof of completion. A paper certificate will be not sent by default. If desired, you can receive a paper DELTA certificate at an additional cost of €17.50 excluding VAT. It is not possible to receive a paper NIBHV certificate. Read our blog article for more information.

Are teaching materials included in the price of a FAFS safety training?
For a basic FAFS training, a paper textbook is included in the open registration fee. For a FAFS refresher training, no paper textbook is included in the open registration fee. For an additional fee you can order a paper textbook. -
Is it mandatory to have an evacuation plan?
Do you have a fire alarm system in your building? Then it is compulsory to draw up an evacuation plan. Sometimes it is also mandatory to have an evacuation plan in buildings that have a permit for use based on the municipal building regulations. -
What does a FAFS officer do?
A FAFS officer offers his/her assistance if an incident occurs within a company or organisation. Article 15 lists the duties of a FAFS officer. These have been drawn up in accordance with the Working Conditions Act. -
What does FAFS stand for?
FAFS means in-house emergency response team. A FAFS officer acts if incidents occur within a company that threaten the safety and health of the employees. -
What is the difference between BHV and EHBO?
A FAFS officer provides first aid in the event of incidents in or around the workplace. A first aid provider offers first aid in incidents on the street, at home, etc. The biggest difference between a FAFS officer and a first aider is therefore the environment in which you find yourself. In addition, a FAFS officer sometimes has to follow additional training to have the same powers as a first aider.
