Category B EBS Rebreather Training in Norway
This training is intended for helicopter passengers who are required to wear a survival suit with an integrated breathing system (CAT B EBS) during offshore flights. The training provides additional in-depth instruction on top of previous HUET evacuation training and focuses on the safe and effective use of a CAT B Emergency Breathing System (rebreather) during emergency situations involving helicopter evacuations at sea.
Additional information
Starting April 1, 2026, helicopter passengers traveling to the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS) are required to demonstrate that they have completed this CAT B EBS training as part of the applicable HUET/EBS requirements. The training is provided by an accredited training provider and meets applicable quality standards and mutual recognition requirements. Training quality is ensured through accreditation and oversight by Element NL. This training is in line with Norwegian legislation (BSL D 2-3 §3a) and is delivered in accordance with the Offshore Norway GSK training plan, including the associated competency objectives 3.7 and 3.8.
Please note: This training course and the accompanying certificate are recognized only in the Netherlands, Norway, and Denmark, and not in other countries.

- Emergency Procedures
- Practical exercises in a pool setting, including:
- Adaptation and familiarization exercises
- Four HUET evacuations using EBS

Basic and Refresher training
- This training is intended for people who have not obtained this certificate before.
- This certificate does not require renewal.

- The training is given in English. On request or if only Dutch-speaking students participate, the instruction can be given in Dutch.

Admission requirements
- A valid OPITO BOSIET/FOET or NOGEPA 0.5A certificate.

What should I bring?
- Valid identification (passport, identity card or driving licence)
- Dry underwear
- Personal Safety Logbook (Safety Passport) After completing the training, you will receive a sticker for your Safety Passport (PSL). Safety Passports are available for purchase from us.
